Perhaps this is a day of darkness—not because the world has ended or catastrophes have triumphed, but because my heart is tired. Tired of fighting for truth, justice, dignity, and love. Tired of trying, again and again, to believe that the world could be different—that we could be better, and that truth and transparency are our most valuable assets.
I have spent my entire life trying to be a good person—someone who values family, works hard, offers help, sees themselves in others, and seeks a new purpose in life. My losses have been incalculable; my greatest treasures are gone, and day after day, I must start all over again. I don’t know where I find the strength to begin anew, to keep believing in this world, and to strive to be a better person. But better for what? To be judged as a man without character by people who don’t even know me—people who have no idea how much character matters to me, or how deeply it defines who I am.
Being upright, humble, truthful, and dignified hurts. It hurts because you have no shield, no sword—only your heart. You have only the conviction that every human being deserves respect and value—especially when you look past the shields they wear. When you catch a glimpse of someone’s soul, a new hope is born; a new day begins; a new perspective emerges.
I am suffering once again because I choose to believe—to believe that love is possible, even in a world filled with darkness and fear. To believe that I can find happiness and walk alongside someone who shares my values—someone who, above all else, feels with their heart and soul. I am exhausted by constantly finding myself in the same position: having to prove that I am not an outcast, but rather someone who simply cares and gives of himself for the sake of love. To prove that I have dignity—when what I do most is try to be better each day, with an open heart and a clear conscience.
And so, I do not know where I am headed, what God has in store for me, or what life will reveal... I only know that I am tired and have no strength left... Where can I find peace if love has been lost?
